Umbrella Trimmings Competition 2013

Long time no blog. Way way too much has happened in the last three years since I posted on this blog...so to break the blogging silence here's my entry for the 2013 Umbrella Prints Trimmings Competition.

No-one will have any idea how much blood, sweat and tears went into this entry...creativity isn't coming to me that easily at present...but here's the entry anyway! A fabric collage featuring Umbrella Prints trimmings and various vintage 1970s fabrics (including the bathroom curtains from the home I grew up in!), contemporary quilting cottons and woollen tweeds...all fixed by either applique, embroidery stitching or bondaweb onto the underside of an old piece of denim (from the thigh of my old maternity jeans!) and trimmed with homemade bias binding.

You can't see it on here but the balloon and birds and basket are all fixed to a foamy piece of felt that give them a 3D look...you can kind of see it on the close-up.  Huge thank you to the lovely ladies at Umbrella Prints for kick starting my motitvation and for being so understanding (I forgot to take a pic of the actual trimmings prior to starting which is why the photo below shows a depleted pack)...big huge hugs to you! And fingers crossed! xxx
